Videoart and sound art exhibition.

ONG (Organización Nelson Garrido), Caracas, Venezuela. April-June 2007.

Organized by the Nelson Garrido non-governmental organization, this cycle focused on video art for the third consecutive year. It presented different artistic propositions committed to reality that opt for nihilistic attitudes as opposed to the hypocrisy or impotence of an art that transforms reality, and sometimes becomes an expensive substitute for true political change. The cycle’s artistic propositions choose to negate any principle, authority, dogma or possibility that could be offered us as a means of progress in contemporary societies. This show was divided into a series of video installations and sound artworks by artists from Holland, Marc Bijl; Mexico, Teresa Margolles and Santiago Sierra; and Spain, Karmelo Bermejo and Democracia. There is also a selection of Spanish video in mono-channel format called Spanish Bombs, which brings together Do you like what you see?, Antonio Ballester, Rubén Santiago, María Cañas, Josechu Dávila, Antonio de la Rosa, Disraeli Collado.
